PHILOSOPHY

Design, for me, begins with how a space feels. I am drawn to environments shaped by natural light, texture, and colour, and to spaces that support daily life while quietly evoking emotion and connection. My approach to interior design is human centered and sustainable, grounded in the belief that thoughtful design should feel intuitive, lived in, and responsive to the people who use it. Natural light plays a central role in my design process, influencing spatial planning, material choices, and the overall atmosphere of a space.

My design perspective is shaped by a background in retail, making, and small business ownership. As the founder of Rose City Goods, a home décor and lifestyle boutique that operated from 2019 to 2023, I gained firsthand experience in how people interact with physical environments. From storefront layouts and circulation to visual merchandising and material selection, retail taught me that design decisions directly shape behaviour, accessibility, and emotional experience. This work strengthened my ability to design with intention while balancing creativity with real world constraints.

Alongside my retail experience, I am a ceramic artist and designer, a practice that continues to inform my sensitivity to materiality, craft, and sustainability. Working with clay has reinforced the value of process, tactility, and longevity, principles I carry into my interior design work. I am particularly interested in how natural materials, layered textures, and considered colour palettes interact with light to create spaces that feel grounded, calm, and expressive.

Currently pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design at Humber College, I am building on this foundation through studio work and critical design thinking. I am especially drawn to small spaces, retail environments, and adaptive reuse projects, where thoughtful planning and the use of natural light can have a meaningful impact on how a space is experienced.

I am excited to continue growing within a collaborative design studio that values sustainability, experimentation, and spaces that are both functional and emotionally resonant. I aim to create environments that invite people in, support daily rituals, and are designed to last
